I know this too sounds like heresy after such a great book, but the movie musical "1776" based a great deal on the correspondence that Adams had with his wife during the Second Continental Congress is a great supporting video.

Hi Ken,
I heard a review of a new book this afternoon titled "First Family: Abigal and John Adams." Author Joseph J. Ellis.
It is suppposed to provide even more insite into the lives of these two interesting people. Their many, many letters show us how often they were apart. Sad for them to be apart so many months and even years, but good for us that their letters were intentionally saved for us to read.

(George and Martha burned their letters.)

What a surprise it was for me to learn that John Adams bought my ancestor's (William and Anna Cheeseborough)farm in Braintree (in the 1630's) and the farm is still preserved as a historic site! I took my boys to visit the site a few years ago.

Uncle Ken,
I was thinking about that this very weekend. I think it began with the email about Uncle Dale and Aunt Vonnie's trip to the Moody Archives, uncovering Grandpa Ed's honor roll record. When I think of him, I think of a letter I recived when I was about 10. He wanted to let me know he loved the cookies I had made for a dinner on Foothill Lane, ending with a quick sentence on how much he loved me. Everytime I open the letter I get teary eyed. It is all typed with the exception of his signature in think blue ink. I know he told me a million times how much he loved me, but it is so different, to unfold the letter and read those very words. Letters are surley a lost art form.
Love ya,
Heidi
