Welcome to LeaderFOCUS
September 11, 2007 by Ken
I remember when the little word first came to me - LeaderFOCUS.
It was a moment of inspiration. The moniker would launch a new discipline - and keep me connected with friends in my network who work in all sorts of leadership roles. I was looking for a way to deliver some encouragement, motivation and focus. I found it. LeaderFOCUS. So I started writing a Monday morning weekly. The first issue was two days after Christmas, 1999. It didn’t stop for six years.
Then I took a break. My writing took on a different turn. But I kept after it; week after week. Now I’ve turned a new corner. It’s time to welcome back an old friend. It’ll take on a little different flavor. A new BLOG format. But the purpose remains the same. I believe in you. Leadership matters. We’re in it together.
As you read, leave a comment. Share your thoughts.

Ken,
I was glad to see your “Leaderfocus” again. I have truly missed it. They both went to my spam folder since I did not have your email address in my book but I was able to read both of them. I hope things are well with you and Carol and family and will now look forward to Monday’s. God Bless.

HOORAY!!! I could not be happier to receive this, with the promise that once again, LeaderFocus will be weekly!!
I will begin, as always, to print out every one and begin a NEW loose-leaf notebook
Like every good mom should!
Congratulations!! This is indeed good news.
Hello Ken,
It’s great to hear from you.
I’m leading music at Ridgeview once or twice a month as needed, so I’m still in need of focus. It’s good to see you back. Our best to Carolyn.
Happy Day,
Brandon
This morning about 5 am I was awakened with a dozen thoughts of urgent matters swirling around in my head. Instead of wrestling with those thoughts, as I usually do, I began to meditate on the 23rd Psalm. Try it! You’ll like it! Jeff
Thanks Ken for including me in this weekly email. It is both timely for where I am in my leadership growth and a I think this is great way to communicate with each other.

Ken:
Your gift of articulation shines through this piece! You seem quite “at home” with the word processer. Keep on keeping on! And your insight is both helpful and encouraging.
To paraphrase the above entry,wWe all have a new reason to anticipate Mondays!
Well done -
Clint

This is wonderful! I am so glad to hear and read about Leader Focus… Even when “retired” new opportunities open up for servant leadership … after all retirement is a change in life style and a chance to serve the Lord in a new way. I’m looking forward to Monday’s all the more!

Ken,
Thanks for including me on this great resource! I am passing your link along to my Fuller- Northern California class (Leasdership & Diversity). We all benefit from having you back in action with us again.
Hi Ken who used to live in VC!
Reg and I moved to South Africa as missionaries in Nov 05 and its been a rough two years getting settled and understanding what missions really means (relationship, relationship, relationship).
Last Mon I was praying all morning, really seeking God about some specific direction. After over 2 yrs of serving here I started to wonder if I was really meant to be an influencer for Christ, was I ever? I was earnestly asking God for help in understanding my role and His purpose for me in this country. Everything is so completely different it’s like starting in Kindergarten again and working your way through each grade. No relying on friends, family, community, your past successes, influences, knowledge or ability.
God seemed to strip it all off and say okay now it’s just you and Me. (This experience is also shared with many who God called to the field I found). Extremely humbling and one must practice moment by moment laying it all down. Patience, waiting on the Lord, living truly in the moment.
So last Monday I got your e-mail. Again I couldn’t for the life of me remember who you were but there was distant fog that I should. I did not even read or open the page but somehow just the “It’s Monday and you are a leader” seemed to be God’s quiet assuring voice, “yes I see you, I know what your thinking, don’t worry I made you and I will use you to even greater glory to Myself.”
Only tonight, Monday here (we are 10hrs ahead) did I remember who I thought you were. After reading the front page I quickly went to the family photos and sure enough there’s Ken from Valley Center! Yup I know him! So, I need to thank you for the encouragement, my friend, half the world away for making my Monday!
Thank you for your obedience in starting these weekly addresses. I pray you are richly blessed.
